A SPHERE THAT SYMBOLIZES MOTHER EARTH
This sculptured globe of polished and matte aluminum gives shape to a mystical vision of Earth overflowing with inner light. It symbolizes how, even as she undergoes destructive alterations, nothing goes lost and Mother Earth will always nourish mankind, as long as we acknowledge that we are not lords of the Earth, but guests who must protect the planet with care. Our hope is that all the magnificence of Nature may motivate mankind to build a better world.
The workmanship of this shiny and matte surfaced sculpture is best appreciated in brightly lit surroundings, but its most spectacular effect is seen in the dark when the deep cuts in the surface allow the interior source of light to project patterns on adjacent walls.
Andrea Fantinato and Cesare Carlesso created their die cast aluminum, 110 kilo Nucleo between December 2019 and January 2020 after six months of preparation, using a specialized metal cutting process.
